On the occasion of the celebration of the Paris Salon 2018, which will open its doors next October, will debut the new Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid Concept. This is one of the many innovations that Citroën has prepared for this important automobile event. It will also be the first time the new Citroën C5 Aircross, the new SUV of the French manufacturer, will appear live before the European public.The new Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid Concept is one of Citroën’s first fruits. It is the precursor to the expected plug-in hybrid version of the Citroën C5 Aircross, due to be launched in early 2020. It will be Citroën’s first plug-in hybrid vehicle. After its launch, each new model introduced by the French brand will have an electrified offer.Its launch is part of the ‘Low Emission Vehicle’ (LEV) offensive, through which the French brand set the goal of launching low-emission vehicles annually from 2020 onwards. The objective is to have a 100% electrified line on the horizon of 2025. PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) technology will notably enhance the mechanical offer of the new Citroën C5 Aircross, standing as one of the most relevant versions of the line.Visually the C5 Aircross Hybrid Concept stands out and differentiates itself from the C5 Aircross itself, recently revealed, thanks to the specific finishes that combine White, Deep Blue and punctual areas in anodized Blue Electric. It also has stickers that betray the kind of electrified mechanics under your skin. The 19-inch alloy wheels bring a touch of dynamism.Inside there are also unique elements, such as the electric blue accents on the top of the seat backrests, the upholstery that combines leather and fabric, as well as the panel. The digital dashboard and the 8.0-inch touch screen that crowns the center console give technological note to the cabin.The new Citroën C5 Aircross Hybrid Concept is equipped with a plug-in hybrid engine that combines a 180 hp PureTech petrol engine and a small 80 kW (109 hp) electric motor to deliver a combined power of 225 hp. All this commanded by an eight-speed E-EAT8 automatic transmission. By having two motors each acting on a shaft, it will have full traction.This hybrid SUV plug-in is capable of running up to 50 kilometers in 100% electric (ZEV) mode. Citroën emphasizes that this autonomy will allow a large number of drivers to perform their daily routes in ZEV mode.

Salomon monograms are present on the sides (next to the exterior mirrors) and the back cover. On the sides are also the details in Grafito gray, like the covers of the mirrors and the handles, as well as the short antenna in the rear. Seen from the front, the Citroën Aircross Salomon differs from the Antra gray trim on the bumper finish and LED daytime running lights.All Citroën Aircross Salomon are also equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels Diamond Buggy. The customer can choose from four colors: Blanc Banquise (solid white), Gray Graphite (metallic gray), Blanc Nacré (pearly white) and Rouge Rubi (metallic red).Inside, Salomon graphics is applied to the dash panel, next to the air outlet on the right side. In units in Blanc Nacré, the panel frame will also be white.Complete, both versions come with standard electric steering, high suspension, longitudinal roof bars, electric control of external mirrors, front and rear electric windows, onboard computer, in addition to the modern multimedia center with a touch screen of 7.0 inches and AM / FM / Bluetooth radio / Auxiliary input.”This is an exclusive special series with a large number of serial content, bringing the look similar to the top-of-the-line versions of Aircross,” says Nuno Coutinho, Citroën’s Director of Marketing.
Technologies in the service of well-being on boardBy means of the 7.0-inch center touch screen, it is possible to manipulate all audio, navigation and connectivity features: AM / FM radio, Bluetooth (audio streaming), USB (audio with cover display and photo viewer), AUX ), calculator and calendar.
The model panel also offers the following features:
– MirrorScreen (MirrorLink + CarPlay);
– Duplication of the Smartphone screen on the multimedia center screen;
– USB 2.0 input with 1A current;
– MyCitroën: a free, simple and intuitive application to extend the driving experience on your smartphone, with the tranquility of having control of consumption, vehicle locator, navigation and more.
Dynamic behaviorThe Citroën Aircross Salomon can be equipped with two options of motorization, 100% adapted to the needs of the consumers. Are they:
– 1.5i Flex: that privileges the low consumption and the efficiency of use, but without giving up the pleasure when driving. This engine develops 93 hp of maximum power with ethanol, at 5,500 rpm. The maximum torque is 140 Nm when fueled with ethanol, always at 3,000 rpm. However, 86% of torque is already available at just 2,000 rpm.
– 120 VTi Flex Start: technology reference, performance and drivability, offers a power of 122 hp at 5,800 rpm and a maximum torque of 161 Nm at 4,000 rpm, both with ethanol. In addition to the technology – which eliminates, for example, the gas tank in the engine compartment – one of the greatest virtues of this engine is the generous torque, quality that provides the best response to the accelerator, greater agility to the car and, consequently, more pleasure in driving. In fact, 80% of torque is already available from 1,500 rpm. This engine will always be associated with sequential automatic transmission with fins on the steering wheel winter car cover.
2018 – CITROËN E-MÉHARI
Citroën has unveiled the new E-Méhari 2018, an update of the interesting electric model that has now extended its versatility thanks to the debut of a new roof system and side windows, and a small improvement of the electric motor, which now has more torque, although its price has been slightly increased.The new E-Méhari line will now consist of two versions, the soft-top that was already marketed and a new hard-top, which has a hard roof and windows on the sides and back. These are not conventional windows, but panels that overlap the spaces on the sides. While the front seats have a sliding opening system, that of the rear cover is retractable, so it is possible to access the trunk space through it, however, the rear sides are fixed.This system was already used in the limited edition Citroën E-Méhari Styled by Courrèges , therefore, Citroën only implemented this system to the regular line of the model.The mechanics have also been slightly upgraded by taking advantage of the modifications of the 2018 model, so the E-Méhari, in all its versions, still counts on a electric motor of 68 hp (50 kW) that now has 166 Nm of torque, instead of the 140 Nm that delivered the original model. Its 30 kWh lithium batteries allow it a range of 195 kilometers under the NEDC cycle and continues to reach a top speed of 110 km / h.The equipment has also been revised and now can count on a central locking and a specific system of remote closing, which forces the user to pass the key through a lower corner of the windshield to be able to open or close the doors. It should be remembered that E-Méhari is not based on any model of Citroën, but on Bolloré Bluesummer , which is why it has neither the platform nor the technology that is typical of the French brand. Its seats have been redesigned and now allow a more comfortable access to the rear seats thanks to the new Easy Entry system, and in addition, it has new storage spaces in the interior.All these changes will be noticed in the final price, and in France its price will go up 500 euros. The soft-top version now costs 25,500 euros, while the new hard-top E-Méhari will have a base price of 26,700 euros. In both cases not counting the 6,000 euros of incentives for electric vehicles that is available in the French market.
